Following on from the feedback my teacher gave me for my presentation which is to research more about my target audience, I decided to focus on my target audience. I went on various local newspaper websites and found that they did not have a lot of information on their target audience. I then researched the 2001 national census for Southwark council to know what age and what ethnicity has the highest population in Southwark. This will help me in to roughly develop an idea of who my target audience will be. I found out that White is the largest ethnic group taking around 63.01% of the population, followed by Black Africans 16.07% and then Black Caribbean’s taking 7.99% of the population. I also researched the Southwark census for age and found out that the median age for population in Southwark is 32.00.This is because the age range of 30-44 has the highest population of 28.33% followed by age range 19-29 with 19.56% and then 45-59 with 13.51%. With all this statistics, I have come to the conclusion that my target audience is White’s, Black African’s and Black Caribbean’s aged around 20-45.
